As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve started writing my story ideas as short stories before moving them over to screenplay format. It has been working surprisingly well. I think the reason is that I’m worrying less about the logistics of how I’ll turn something into a film, and I’m just thinking about how to write a good story. Here’s hoping that my current idea does translate easily to film when I finish it.
I have been working on my short psychological thriller script “Photographs” for several months now. While I have made several breakthroughs I keep on getting demotivated and find my mind wandering to other story ideas.
To fight this I decided to start writing short stories, just to get the ideas out of my head so that I can concentrate on writing my screenplay. It seems to have worked too. I have had several moments working on my second project where I suddenly realized what I was doing wrong with my screenplay.
Anyways, if you’re interested in reading some of my stuff I created a profile on a writing site called Protagonize.
